Day 7: July 3, 2010

Since we were out so late the night before we decided to sleep in.  Our plan for the day included the Statue of Liberty.  Until I found an information booklet about the tour, I thought you could only get to her in New York but, you can get to her via New Jersey...  that's what we did.  I figured it would be less crowded.  It wasn't too bad except it takes 90 minutes to go through security.  Once through security, we were on the ferry in about 5 minutes.

The kids loved standing and looking at the water.

A view from the ferry....

Our first stop was Ellis Island.

Barbie's from around the world...

Haylee wanted her picture made with the one from Egypt..  David went there last year on a mission trip.

People were given tests to see if they were of "sound mind"...

This room was originally full of benchs for the immigrants.
There was a list and they wait for their name to be called.

On the ferry heading to the Statue of Liberty...

HERE SHE IS.....

She could really use a nose job..

The torch...

The tablet...

After the tour, we left New Jersey and headed to Philadelphia.  We found this neat drive in on our way.

The food was great!!!

Tomorrow it's historical Philadelphia on the 4th...
