Day 13 and Day 14: This road leads home

We got to the cabin so late, that we didn't get a chance to look around.  In the day light, this place is really nice.  Hopefully we can come back sometime and spend a few days.

The view from the back porch

The view from the road
Today will be lots and lots of driving.  We are going to drive as far as we can today.  We ended up in the middle of nowhere Colorado.  Of course, we did not stop in the last big town for dinner, and we were starving.  Luckily there was a "restaurant" in the hotel we were staying at.  It's not what we wanted, but at least it was food.
When you've been in the car all day.....  you beat each other up with a pillow when you get in the hotel.

The next day was full of driving too.  We made it to Amarillo for a late lunch, so The Big Texan it is!

After some great food, and a little fun, it was time to load the car for the last time!!  We would make it home today!!

We had a great time and made some amazing memories, but it always feels good to get home!!!

Day 12: Yellowstone National Park

We were up early again.  This was our first time to Yellowstone.  We only had today to explore, so I wanted to see as much as possible.

There are no words.  This place is just beautiful, and peaceful.
You could hear the birds, and the water.

Of course, we wanted to see some animals.

These were all that we saw for a long time.
We saw some hot springs, and geysers.

Then we saw THE geyser of all geysers....Old Faithful.... it took awhile, but finally... it did not fail us

Trying to stay cool while waiting for the "show"

Then we found more animals... Buffalo and lots of them

Then there was one that wanted to cross the road.

The kids were just dying to get in the water.  We finally found a beachy area for them to try out the water.  They didn't last long becasue it was COLD!!

We also saw some beautiful cascades AKA waterfalls

We passed the continental divide

As we were heading out of the park, there were lots of cars stopped on the side of the road.  Even though there are signs everywhere that say don't stop unless there is a pullout, people do it any way.  As we are passing by, Carson says, I think that was a moose.  Of all the animals out there, the moose is the one thing I am dying to see. So what do we do, Stop on the side of the road, and then proceed to go into the woods.  WHAT!!!!  we did... all 4 of us.  There were other people in there too, so it was safe right??

Here's what we actually saw...

 A beautiful elk

We heard some noise behind us, and turned to see this...
We left right before the park ranger was telling everyone to get out and away from the wild animal... well all of us except for David...  let him tell you his story..  We left and drove through Grand Teton National Park.
Again.... just beauty everywhere... no words

It was along day, but worth being in the car all day.  Now we are tired and hungry.  Time to get food and a place to stay.  We drove in to Jackson Hole.  Wished we had more time to spend there because it looked like a neat little town.  That will have to wait until another time.
We found this yummy pizza place that had been on Diners, Drive-ins and Drives..
