Johnny Appleseed Day

Haylee had to dress up as Johnny Appleseed for school.
She was not going to wear the pan to school.
At least, she posed for a few pictures.

Haylee's 1st project

Haylee was chosen to be  "Student of the Week" and had to make a poster about herself.
She did a great job with a little help.

Labor Day- Six Flags

We bought Six Flags season passes this year and have really enjoyed going.
The kids have had a great time.  Haylee will even ride some rides by herself.
We decided to go during the Labor Day weekend.  It was so hot!!

We also saw several charaters.  They need to take some lessons from Disney.
We just wanted the kids to stand by them and take a picture.
The characters wanted to "goof" around with them.
We did not have time for that and the kids really didn't care for it either.

Carson was scared of Batman and Robin.  He refused to stand with them.

Trying to cool off...
Despite the heat....  we had lots of  fun!!!

Branson

We decided to go to Branson for the weekend.  Even though we had only been in school for a week, everyone was ready for a little rest and relaxation.  First though we had to get out of the Dallas area.  It only took over 2 hours to get to the Oklahoma border due to lots of construction.  We arrived in Branson about 1:00 a.m., but we were up early the next morning.  So much for rest but we had fun day planned.

We did not actually stay in the lodge.  We were in a studio villa.  Since it was so late upon arrival, I didn't get a picture before it was destroyed by children.

The weather was beautiful.  Our first stop was breakfast.   The food was great!!
Patiently waiting for our food....

Then we were off to the lazy river but what we did not realize is that it would be freezing cold at the end of August.  The kids still had to get in but they only lasted one time around.

 Just floating down the river...

After swimming, it was time to get changed and head out for some shopping, including the Amish store.

We also went to see the Dixie Stampede.  The kids loved the show.  The food was great too.

To wrap up the evening, it was time for mini-golf.....

.....and s'mores....
Even though the trip was short, we had a great time!!!

Back To School

Haylee was so excited to start 1st grade.  She even got a new haircut to go with her new outfit.  Everyone was up early so that we could have breakfast before starting our day.

She is still all smiles when we arrived at school but that quickly changed when it was time for me to leave her.

Once she got busy, the tears stopped.
I was still with her for about 30 minutes before sneaking out of the classroom.

She was so excited to see her friends from last year.
It's going to be a great year!!

Day 14: July 10, 2010

We got up and head out to what Haylee refers to as "Elvis' house" AKA- Graceland.
Our first stop....the Lisa Marie
Elvis always sat in the green chair.
Next stop...
Next... his awesome cars
His toys...
His favorite car... he gave it to his mother..
Next stop....Graceland
His parents' bedroom
We weren't allowed to go upstairs.
The dining room
Kitchen
Jungle Room
I am just going to call this the yellow room...
The pool room...

The piano he played the morning he died.
His racquetball room has been turned into this....
RIP...
A headstone for his twin brother.  He is actually buried in Mississippi.
His Mom
His Dad
His Grandmother..
THE KING

Then we rushed to the Peabody Hotel to see the famous ducks.
Rolling out the red carpet.  They walk down it and get into the elevator to the top floor for the night.
Here they go.....

Then we tried some Memphis BBQ.  It is very different tasting that what we get in Texas.

We let the crowds clear from the Peabody so that we could see the ducks in their home for the night.

After driving for over 3,000 miles and 15 days in the car with 2 kids, we have safely made it home with lots of great memories.  Thanks to all of you who followed us on this journey.  We had an awesome trip.
